Take on the mantle of the most destructive force on the planet as you stomp, batter and - oh yes - smash your way around New York!

Following the success of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, this new game, based loosely on the Edward Norton movie, is more of the same. This time though, it’s New York’s turn to receive a pounding from the green guy.

The sense of the Hulk as a heavy mass, moving through the environment and causing just as much damage as the bad guys is well realised. As before, the more destruction you cause, the more you become noticed by authorities, and if you cause enough trouble tanks, choppers and eventually Hulkbusters show up to halt your clumsy rampage. Luckily you have a diverse set of moves available to take down your (often quite stupid) foes.

Fittingly, this feels like a big game. There’s plenty to do, from collecting power-ups to completing challenging mini-games on top of the story mode. While many of the story scenes don’t really work in terms of driving the game’s narrative forward, the free-roaming nature of the game means that there is plenty to investigate and, of course, smash! VERDICT: 8/10
Not the deepest game ever produced but great fun while it lasts.
