TV episode review
US airdate 19 November 2007 (NBC)

Hiro, newly returned to the present, learns of his father’s death and decides to return to the past to prevent it. In the present, Noah Bennett is about to flee with his family once again, but Claire refuses to go – fatally allowing time for Bob to track them down. Matt discovers his powers are greater than he knew and tries them out on Angela Petrelli, while Mohinder gets dragged deeper into the Company’s intrigues…

This – at last and thankfully – is the Heroes we know and love. By turns, it is full of excitement, suspense, emotion, and shock – really, there is never a dull moment. Prophecies depicted in Isaac’s painting do come to pass, but there are surprising and unexpected resolutions.

To cap it all, the ending returns to the shock moments epitomised by early episodes such as One Giant Leap and Collision. It is really hard to find any fault at all in this episode: the writing is perfect, the pacing is well-balanced, the characters all come back into their own, and there is a exceptional buzz about the whole thing.

Heroes, it seems, has come back to life. Brigid Cherry

VERDICT: 10/10
