TV episode review
US airdate 5 November 2007 (NBC)

Peter Petrelli has jumped forward with Caitlin to a deserted New York where he discovers that the virus has become an epidemic and killed many, many people. Reunited with his mother, he learns he must take up a new challenge. Back in the past, Hiro must come to an equally devastating decision, while in the present we learn who ‘patient zero’ actually is…

Events at last are starting to take shape – and hopefully this is not too late for the series as a whole. This is a clearly better episode than others in the season so far: let’s hope this continues. There finally seems to be a key focus in the overriding story arc and the tantalising clues as to the origins of the Heroes are coming together at last.

Thankfully, the focus here seems to be on developments with many of the well-established characters and their bigger roles in the ongoing drama – it’s what the series is most in need of, and this episode delivers it in abundance. The excitement that was missing before is clearly still there bubbling under the surface.

On top of that there are some really captivating developments about the nature of the ‘superpowers’ that raise expectations and reignite interest in the show. Brigid Cherry

VERDICT: 7/10
