The Priors and their followers are making inroads into the Milky Way galaxy, forcibly converting planets to the Ori. Earth, under the SGC, are desperately seeking Ancient technology from the Arthurian myths to hold them at bay…

With this, the final box set of Stargate SG-1, the collectors amongst us can now complete their DVD collection. As is usual for Stargate releases, the box set is just the single releases in one neat package (the separate volumes have been released individually in the run up to this release). Unless you’re only after a particular episode, the box set is probably better value for money.

These packages are always laden with extras, and this is no exception. Every episode has a commentary from the primary movers and shakers on the show, and 200 even has two separate commentary tracks. A couple of episode commentaries (Line in the Sand and The Road Not Taken) are entertaining for Amanda Tapping’s contributions, but all are informative and sometimes amusing. Robert C. Cooper, Jim Menard, Joseph Malozzi and Andy Mikita have obviously put in a fair bit of effort here.

Each disk also has an entry in the ‘Director’s Series’, plus another documentary filler. These aren’t always exciting (a recap on the Ori doesn’t say anything a fan won’t know already, while the ‘comedy doc’ with Gary Jones is somewhat stale and the deleted scenes are few and disappointing). Nevertheless, this set has got plenty to offer, and as for the episodes themselves, the Ori storyline has its moments, while 200 is worth having on its own. Brigid Cherry

VERDICT: 7/10
If we’re honest, the show peaked some years back, but this is still a must buy for SG fans.
