Following on from their success with The Sarah Jane Adventures, CBBC has commissioned a new drama, Bo and the Spirit World, which features a magical spirit world.

CBBC controller Anne Gilchrist hailed the series as "like nothing ever seen on children's television." The central character, a young British Chinese Girl, and her brother Timothy are transported to the world in a quest to save the universe from their archenemy Li and his shadow ninjas.

Gilchrist stated: "Inspired by Yimou Zhang’s House of Flying Daggers [pictured] and Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, we wanted to bring our CBBC audience the visual spectacle and exciting adventure of an ambitious drama set in Ancient China."

Filming will begin next April.
