Incoming Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat achieved a rare hat trick at the Hugo Awards, announced on August 9th at Denvention in Denver, Colorado.
Moffat's script for Blink, the Doctor-lite episode from the third series, won Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form, following his triumphs for the first series two-parter The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, and the second series' The Girl in the Fireplace. Competition this year included Paul Cornell's scripts for Human Nature /The Family of Blood, and Catherine Treganna's Torchwood episode Captain Jack Harkness.
Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel Stardust won the equivalent award in the Long Form category while the Best Novel award was given to The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon.
