Sci Fi has announced that a further 10 "webisodes" will be broadcast in the lead up to the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica.

The fourth season was delayed by the Writers Guild strike earlier in the year, so Sci Fi elected to show it in two halves, with the last part of the story due to appear at the start of 2009.

According to SciFi.com, the website and Universal Cable Production will produce 10 two-three minute serialised webisode chapters "that complement and enhance the action broadcast on Sci Fi. The storyline will give viewers more insight into characters and events from the fourth season."

Similar short episodes preceded the broadcast of the Galactica TV movie Razor, although it's not yet been revealed whether, like those, the new segments will get a network broadcast.
