Comedy drama Pushing Daisies and Tin Man, the reinvention of The Wizard of Oz, head up the genre series nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards this year.
Pushing Daisies' lead Lee Pace is in contention for Best Actor, with Kristin Chenoweth up for Best Supporting Actress. The directing, writing, art direction, casting, costumes, editing and hairstyling for the pilot are all listed, with both ordinary and prosthetic make up departments recognised for their work on the series.
Tin Man battles with The Andromeda Strain for six of its nine Emmys: Best Miniseries, Art Direction, Editing, Make Up, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing, and also received nods for Costumes, Hairstyling and Special Effects. The Andromeda Strain is also nominated for Best Cinematography.
Lost received eight nominations, including Best Drama Series, while Battlestar Galactica gained six, including Michael Angeli for Best Writing on the episode Six of One. Heroes and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles contest the Best Special Effects and Editing awards, with Heroes also recognised for its Art Direction, and Terminator for its Stunts.
Chuck is named in two categories, while Medium, New Amsterdam, Smallville, Masters of Science Fiction, Jericho, Smallville and Supernatural received one nomination apiece.
The Emmys will be broadcast on September 21st.
