Friends executive producer Adam Chase is about to start filming his new science fiction comedy, Clone, for BBC3.

The American executive, whose previous British experience was confined to the two-part London based episode of the hit comedy, wrote the piece with The Office's Ash Atalla last summer, and sold it to BBC3. "It was a dream come true," Chase told The Hollywood Reporter. "Then I saw the budget. Here you get amazing creative freedom and a tiny budget."

Clone stars Jonathan Pryce as a scientist who creates the first human clone. Intended to be a prototype supersoldier, the doctor quickly realises his creation is more likely to hug someone than shoot them. Chase describes the script as "extremely violent; people die every week". It is expected to air later this year or in early 2009.
