Canadian actor Don S. Davis, who played General George Hammond for the first seven series of Stargate SG-1, died on Sunday June 29th from a massive heart attack, aged 65.
In addition to his role as the commander of the Stargate force, Davis had numerous roles in films and TV, most notably as Dana Scully's father Captain William Scully in The X-Files and as Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks. He spent three years on active service in the US Army and brought that knowledge to bear on the many military roles he played.
His last acting role was in the forthcoming Stargate: Continuum, the second of the Stargate SG-1 straight-to-DVD movies released later this month.
