Father and son horror writers Stephen King (pictured) and Joe Hill have written together for the first time, penning Throttle, a 60-page novella for Richard Matheson tribute anthology He is Legend, due out in 2009.
The short tale has been optioned prior to publication by producer Nick Wechsler. Throttle follows a father and son who are members of a motorcycle gang. In a tribute to Matheson's classic tale Duel, filmed by Steven Spielberg, the two men are chased through the desert by an 18-wheel tanker truck.
"It has elements of iconic films like Duel and Breakdown, but with a horror element that I want to push," Wechsler told Variety. The producer's current slate includes The Time Traveller's Wife, based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger.
