Angel and Torchwood's James Marsters is set to play moon-walking astronaut Buzz Aldrin in a new TV movie.

Marsters, who has recently finished shooting the live action Dragonball movie, will co-star in Moonshot, a co-production between ITV, The History Channel, German station ProSieben, TG1 and NTV Japan. The 90-minute film chronicles the Apollo 11 mission which saw Neil Armstrong and Aldrin land on the moon.

ITV intends to air the $5 million movie in July 2009 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the mission on July 20th.

Shooting begins on June 3rd in Lithuania, meaning Marsters will miss planned convention appearances in New Jersey. No other cast details have been released as yet.
