The much loved Jim Henson comedy series Fraggle Rock is to make the leap to the big screen.

The Weinstein Company is reviving the series in a new movie written and directed by Hoodwinked's Cory Edwards, which will see the tiny humanoid creatures Gogo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red leave their home Fraggle Rock and start to interact with humans who believe them to be aliens. As yet it is unknown whether Gobo's uncle, Travelling Matt, who was visiting "outer space" (the human world) during the series, will appear.

Fraggle Rock was one of the mainstays of The Jim Henson Company during the 1980s. American and Australian viewers saw inventor Doc, played by Gerard Parkes, in the wraparound sections, while the British audience followed the Captain (Fulton Mackay) and his dog Sprocket.
