Star Wars: The Clone Wars will make its debut on the cinema screen, launching the half-hour series of animated adventures.
The new 3-D animated movie will be distributed by Warner Brothers rather than Lucas' traditional partner Fox. "We're trying to do something unprecedented: marrying TV series and theatrical release," a Lucasfilm representative told Variety.
The 100-minute movie is set between Episodes II and III. Lucas told Variety that he "felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell." Anthony Daniels will once again reprise the role of C-3PO he created over 30 years ago while Matthew Wood returns to voice General Grievous and the battledroids.
The Clone Wars will open on August 15th in the USA, with international release dates to be confirmed. More than 30 episodes have already been produced in Singapore and Taiwan, with an online documentary now available at starwars.com.
